On behalf of the Department of Trade and Industry (thedti), we confirm that Ajay Lalu had been working closely with the dti ever since 2006. We also confirm that Ajay Lalu provides the dti with specific strategic advice due to his extensive experience and understanding of Braod Based Black Economic Development (BBBEE).
We have recommended Ajay Lalu several times in response to requests for assistance due to our trust in his abilities, and will continue to do so going forward.
Our impression of Black Lite Consulting is a very positive one; they are professional, strategic thinkers and advise us with integrity. Black Lite Consulting has been appointed by the dti to develop the Technical Assistance Guide on Revised Codes. They have also over a period of time supported the department in developing the strategy and policy on the creation of black industrialists. We believe that being at the forefront of being black industrialists themselves it allows them to share their unique experiences at a practical level too. We have been satisfied with the work which Ajay Lalu and his team at Black Lite Consulting have done for us and also for the way in which they think and approach BBBEE in line with the spirit and objective as opposed to a compliance approach. We will definitely recommend them for any work related to BBBEE or strategic advisory work.
We often refer to Ajay Lalu for strategic insights for developments related to BBBEE and we are always satisfied with the thinking and research that goes into such requests. In particular, Ajay Lalu, has significant business experience and a wealth of knowledge that allows him to provide strategic insights across various industries. It is for this reason, mainly, that we have recommended to serve on various committees and councils responsible for providing guidance on BBBEE. Some of the committees include Verification Methodology committee, which was responsible to write the verification procedures manual as his experience both as a Chartered Accountant and have both done and advised on BBBEE transactions was most valued. He was also appointed by the Director General of the dti to serve on The In-house Advisory Panel on BBBEE in 2012. This panel has considered the impact of the Global Economic Crisis on BEE deals and made policy recommendations which will be used by the President’s Advisory Council.
We hope that this provides sufficient insights, if not, please feel free to contact me on 012 394 1636 if you require any further information on Ajay Lalu in particular.
